Our journey began on July 13, 2011 as we departed with 13 suitcases via American Airlines. Our itinerary included Chicago to LA, from LA to Hong Kong, and finally arrived Bangkok on July 15th!! While we prepared ourselves for the worst jet lag and possible intestinal sickness, we have been fortunate to avoid both! Perhaps I'm speaking to soon, but we feel great and are very excited to be at the Shangri La Hotel on the River Chao Praya.
Our family was greated by a hotel assistant who presented us with rings if jazmine and roses as welcome and good luck tokens. We were then escorted to our room and given a tour of the fabulous ammenities included for our stay! Needless to say, this is unlike any other experience of which we've ever been a part.
A knock came to our door soon after our check in; it was our butler introducing herself (yes,I said her) and telling us that she is available for whatever services we need to make our stay most pleasant.
While all of my senses are taking this experience in, I think the most recognized is my sense of smell. Everywhere we go, the aromas of flowers and foods are the most spectacular that I've ever witnessed! I look forward to continuing my stories about our first couple of days as we move on in our journey, but for now, I'll say goodbye to try and get some more sleep!! ~Elena
