To Explore...To Learn...To Live...
In January 2011, my husband and I were offered a wonderful opportunity to teach internationally. I invite you to share this amazing experience with our family as we travel the world. We begin our adventure in Burma (Myanmar). Our first teaching post will take place at the International School of Yangon.
We began researching the prospect of teaching internationally over a year and half ago; we didn't actually take the plunge until this past fall. My husband "found" Yangon; he introduced it to our family, and the rest is history. Strangely enough, not many people have asked me, "why," but after explaining our intentions, plenty of people have responded with, "what an amazing experience and opportunity for your family."
Our two children (ages 9 and 10) are the most incredible children in the world. They first thought mom and dad were a bit crazy, but after several discussions and series of questions, their final line (one in which I will never forget) was, "what are you waiting for?"
That's my message here: what are you waiting for? We wait for things to happen every day, we wait for the right time to do thus and so, we wait! I am not happy with waiting; I want to live life now. One of our family's criteria for this open-ended definition of "living life" includes taking risks, traveling, experiencing cultural diversity, and remaining open to continuous learning! We begin our new journey, now! I'd like to share the many decisions, answer questions about "why Burma?" and share links and photos to keep connected.
This first post introduces you to our ideas and intentions to hopefully inspire you to follow your dreams. Hopefully, further posts after our travels begin in July 2011 will provide a conversation to remind you of what our amazing world has to offer!
I always ask my students what verse they will contribute to this life; this is my verse. I hope you enjoy learning with me as this journey continues!!!
